A 58-year-old woman has become the latest victim of the notorious A-7 road on the Costa del Sol.

According to the Spanish traffic authority (DGT), the accident occurred at around 5.30pm on Saturday in the area of Mijas.

A woman riding a motorcycle towards Marbella reportedly came flying off her vehicle, resulting in her death.

Several witnesses called the 112 emergency hotline at around 5:40pm, reporting that a motorcycle had collided with the guardrail on the A-7.

Paramedics raced to the scene but could do little more than confirm the woman’s death.

Last Saturday, a vehicle ploughed through the central reservation on the A-7 in Marbella, spilling into oncoming traffic and triggering a multi-car pile-up and causing one death.

The incident unfolded in San Pedro de Alcantara at around 7.30am at kilometre 1,052 of the coastal motorway, heading in the direction of Malaga, according to Andalucia’s 112 Emergency Services.

The death was reported by local newspaper AZ Costa del Sol, citing sources from the emergency services.

One of the vehicles involved somehow leapt the concrete median and careened into the opposite side of the carriageway.

Emergency services launched a full-scale response. Firefighters from Marbella, traffic cops, paramedics from 061, and road maintenance crews were all scrambled to the scene.
