Much of Spain is in for a soaking this weekend as a weather front sweeps across the peninsula from north to south.
And according to weather experts at El Tiempo, it’s only the beginning, as a ‘carousel’ of Atlantic storms is set to follow throughout the week.
Starting Monday and continuing into next weekend, a series of Atlantic systems will bring widespread rain, particularly across western Spain.
Regions like Galicia, northern Extremadura, southern Castilla y Leon and western Andalucia will see the heaviest rainfall.
Showers are expected throughout next week across Andalucia, including along the Costa del Sol, although the temperatures will remain above 20C.
The first front arrives over the weekend. On Monday, rain will start to creep in from the southwest. By Tuesday, it will spread further inland as a low-pressure system edges closer. On Wednesday, that system moves in fully, bringing near-nationwide rainfall.

Another front is expected on Thursday, this time from a storm tracking further north, again pushing in from the west and spreading rain across large parts of the country. By Friday, another system could follow, although confidence in the forecast drops slightly later in the week. Still, intense rain is on the cards.
Forecast models suggest that in exposed areas – particularly western Galicia, parts of Extremadura, and western Andalucía – rainfall totals could hit 150 to 200mm over several days.
Temperatures will drop noticeably on Sunday, especially in the southeast and the Balearics, where rain is also expected. Some areas could see a sharp fall of 8 to 10C.
Next week, although the weather turns unsettled, the Atlantic flow will drag in milder air, so daytime temperatures won’t plunge dramatically. Highs will generally hover between 20 and 25C across much of the country, though the north will stay a little cooler. The Canaries will remain warmer.
Nights, however, will feel chillier, especially early in the week. On Monday morning, much of inland Spain will dip below 10C, with light frosts possible in the north. In cities like León, Burgos or Soria, temperatures could flirt with freezing.
