Tributes have poured in for a Spanish long jumper who was killed in the Toledo train disaster.
Julieta Gallego, who turned 24 on October 9, lived in Germany and represented Madrid-based athletics club AD Sprint.
The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation expressed its condolences and offered support to her family and loved ones.
AD Sprint said it was mourning a member of its jumps squad, describing the loss as a devastating blow to the club.
‘Rest in peace, Julieta. You will always be part of our Sprint family,’ it said.

The club announced a minute’s silence in her memory on Thursday at its athletics school tracks in Paracuellos and Santa Ana.
Gallego specialised in the long jump and also competed over 60 metres.
She recorded a personal best of 5.90 metres in the long jump at the Spanish Under-23 Indoor Championships in Antequera, Malaga, in 2023.
