Relatives have turned to social media and television after being unable to contact passengers aboard the Madrid–Sevilla AVE and Iryo services involved in Wednesday’s collision.
Among those being sought in appeals reported is David Martinez Mendez, 25, whose family said he was travelling in carriage seven, seat 16A, on the AVE.
‘Please, we have no information about him,’ his relatives wrote on X.
The family of Adriana Marroquin Rodriguez, 27, from Alicante, also appealed for help. They said she was travelling from Madrid to Sevilla in carriage eight and wearing a blue jacket and trousers.
An appeal for Mari Carmen Garcia said she had been aboard the Iryo heading to Sevilla.

Her relative’s message, shared by writer and social media personality Bebi Fernandez, described difficulties reaching the dedicated information line.
‘We have tried calling the telephone number they have set up, but there is no answer,’ it said.
Another family was seeking Juan Jose Garcia Palacios, who had boarded the AVE that morning.
They said the only information they had was a location signal from his iPhone placing it at the crash site.
Relatives also appealed for information about Eleuterio del Olmo Ramirez, 50, described as having short hair and a little facial hair. His appeal placed him in AVE carriage seven, seat 17C.
Others have spoken directly to broadcasters in the hope that survivors might recognise someone.

Ana Benitez, whose brother was unaccounted for, told RTVE she did not know his carriage number.
‘I know he was travelling with a work colleague, but they were in different carriages,’ she said.
A member of the public has also created a website intended to help people find relatives, although it is not an official emergency-service register.
Meanwhile, volunteers have organised supplies for those affected, and blood donation appeals have been issued as hospitals treat casualties.
Renfe’s dedicated telephone number for affected passengers and victims’ relatives is 900 10 10 20.
In Sevilla, four psychologists are providing support beside Santa Justa station, with the city council also offering accommodation to relatives who need it.
