A 27-year-old engineer from Alicante has been confirmed among those killed in the Toledo train disaster after her family spent hours desperately searching for her.
Adriana Marroquin was travelling from Madrid to Sevilla in carriage eight of the Renfe AVE train that struck a stationary Iryo service on Wednesday morning.
Authorities informed her family early on Thursday afternoon that she was among the victims, ending an agonising wait for news.
Her sister Alejandra had shared photographs of Adriana on Instagram after the crash, hoping someone would recognise her and help locate her in a hospital.
Adriana was an industrial engineer and a former pupil of the Jesuitas school in Alicante.
Her death comes as the reported toll from the collision near Urda reached 74, with more than 100 people injured.
Rescue teams are still searching the wreckage more than 24 hours after the collision amid fears more bodies could be found.

Some 15 people are reported to be in a very serious condition following the crash between a Renfe AVE train and an Iryo service near Urda on Wednesday morning.
Guardia Civil officers and almost 200 members of Spain’s Military Emergency Unit, the UME, are working through the devastated carriages, using heavy machinery and drones equipped with thermal sensors.
The search is focused particularly on the rear carriages of the Iryo, which derailed and fell down an embankment after being struck from behind.
Large cranes are helping teams reach areas that remain inaccessible beneath the wreckage. Families are still awaiting news of passengers who have not been located.
