Rain could return to Malaga province this weekend as a DANA approaches and brings noticeable drop in temperatures, experts have warned.
The weather system could arrive on Saturday and see unsettled conditions continue into next week.
However, Jesus Riesco, head of Aemet’s Malaga meteorological centre, has warned that considerable uncertainty remains over the intensity of the rainfall and which areas will see the largest accumulations.
Speaking to Malaga Hoy, he said a clearer picture would emerge closer to the weekend.
For now, high pressure is keeping conditions largely stable, with little change expected in temperatures through Friday.
Malaga city is forecast to reach around 28C during the middle of the week, with overnight temperatures near 20C.
Aemet’s latest outlook shows daytime highs falling to 23C on Sunday and remaining at that level on Monday.
Inland areas are also expected to cool. In Antequera, the forecast outlined by Riesco points to maximum temperatures dropping from around 27C to 22C.

The change will be more noticeable during the day, with overnight lows expected to fall less sharply.
Before the weekend system arrives, easterly levante winds could bring some light rain to the far western Costa del Sol on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the forecast reported by Malaga Hoy, the greatest chance of these showers is during the early hours of Thursday, when rain probabilities could reach 90% in the affected area.
That figure refers to the likelihood of rain, rather than its intensity, with the earlier showers expected to be relatively minor.
The more substantial change could come on Saturday. Initial forecasts suggest rain may develop around the middle of the day, with inland parts of the province currently showing a greater likelihood of precipitation.
A DANA is an isolated low-pressure system at high altitude that can bring unstable weather. Its effects depend on its position and interaction with other atmospheric conditions.
