The significant wildfire that tore through almost 400 hectares of Benahavis has reignited.
The ayuntamiento made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, adding that residents of Benahavis Hills are now being evacuated as a precaution.
Anyone who has been asked to leave their homes have been told to gather at the municipal sports pavilion.
Authorities have also advised all residents to close their doors and windows to avoid exposure to smoke.
The flare-up comes after the wildfire, which broke out near the Ermita del Rosario on Sunday, was declared stabilised at around 7.30pm on Monday.
That allowed residents who had previously been evacuated to return home and the emergency response to be downgraded to the pre-emergency phase.
Aircraft return to the fire
Aerial resources have now been brought back in to tackle the reactivation.
Three forest firefighting crews, an operations technician, an emergency supervisor and two environmental officers are working at the scene.
They are being supported by two fire engines, one light helicopter and one medium helicopter.
The renewed outbreak is in the Ermita del Rosario area, where the original fire began on Sunday.
The original blaze affected an estimated 378 hectares before being stabilised, although it had not yet been declared controlled or extinguished.
INFOCA teams remained on the ground on Tuesday specifically to cool hotspots, monitor the perimeter and prevent reactivations.
