A series of weather alerts have been issued across southern and eastern Spain as thunderstorms threaten torrential downpours and large hail.
State weather agency Aemet has activated dozens of warnings for Wednesday (September 16), including in eastern parts of Andalucia.
The most severe conditions are expected further north around Valencia, where multiple orange alerts are in force.
Granada and Almeria
In Andalucia, Aemet has placed the Guadix and Baza area of Granada province under yellow warnings for both rain and thunderstorms.
The warnings run from 2pm until 9.59pm on Wednesday, with rainfall potentially reaching 15mm in just one hour.
The Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez area of Almeria province faces the same conditions, with yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings from 2pm until 9.59pm.
The maps also show yellow warnings extending into neighbouring parts of southeastern Spain, including northwest Murcia.
Large hail in Valencia
Conditions could become considerably more severe in Valencia province.
Aemet has issued orange warnings for rain and thunderstorms across the southern interior, southern coast and northern coast of Valencia from 4pm until 11.59pm on Wednesday.
Rainfall could reach 40mm in just one hour.
Aemet also warns that storms could be accompanied by hailstones measuring between three and four centimetres, particularly in inland and pre-coastal areas.
Separate yellow rain warnings indicate that accumulations of 80mm over 12 hours are possible.
Some locations could experience very intense rainfall over a relatively short period rather than steady rain throughout the day.
What the warnings mean
A yellow warning does not mean severe weather will occur everywhere within the highlighted area, but indicates potentially hazardous conditions for some activities.
Orange represents a more significant level of danger and means unusually intense meteorological conditions are forecast.
