A woman in Ceuta has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her Moroccan cousin to death following a row over his request to stay at her home.

The Policia Nacional is investigating the violent death, which took place on Thursday morning inside a property in the Poblado de Regulares neighbourhood.

According to police sources cited by El Español, the victim was an undocumented Moroccan national who had allegedly entered Ceuta during the mass border crossing on July 30.

The man had remained in the Spanish enclave and reportedly went to his cousin’s home on Thursday morning intending to stay at the property.

However, his cousin, who is a resident of Ceuta, allegedly refused his request.

A heated argument is then said to have broken out inside the home.

The woman allegedly attacked her cousin with a knife, inflicting injuries which proved fatal.

The victim’s body was removed from the scene, while the woman was arrested as the suspected perpetrator.

Further details about the victim and suspect, including their ages, have not yet been made public.

Conflicting initial reports

Early reports of the killing had presented a very different version of events, claiming that the recently arrived migrant had stabbed a male cousin after being refused accommodation.

However, the later report from El Español, citing Policia Nacional sources, identified the undocumented Moroccan man as the victim and his female cousin as the alleged attacker.
