Malaga is set to swelter next week despite an incoming weather system that could bring storms and unsettled conditions to other parts of Spain.
State weather agency Aemet has warned that a so-called DANA – an isolated high-altitude depression -will begin affecting the peninsula from Sunday and into the first half of next week.
However, forecasters admit there remains significant uncertainty over exactly where the most severe weather will develop.
While some parts of Andalucia could see localised thunderstorms, Malaga province is currently expected to escape the wet weather and instead experience a spell of hot, dry conditions driven by terral winds.
Aemet has already issued yellow weather alerts for rough seas along parts of the Granada and Cadiz coastlines, but current forecasts show little chance of rainfall in Malaga.
Instead, temperatures are expected to climb steadily.
In Malaga city, highs of around 29C are forecast from Friday through Sunday under mostly clear skies, with overnight lows of around 19C.
The heat is expected to intensify next week, with no significant rain currently predicted.
Across inland areas of the province, temperatures will be even higher.
In Coin, temperatures are forecast to reach 31C on Sunday before climbing to 34C on Monday and 35C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Antequera is expected to see highs of around 30C this weekend before reaching 34C by Tuesday. The town is also under a yellow warning for strong winds on Friday.
In Ronda, where yellow wind alerts remain in place for Friday and Saturday, temperatures are expected to rise from 28C over the weekend to around 32C by Tuesday.
The Axarquia region is also forecast to remain dry, with sunny skies and temperatures hovering around 30C.
Looking further ahead, Aemet says the week beginning June 15 is likely to bring a combination of summer-like heat and some atmospheric instability.
Thunderstorms could develop over inland parts of Spain, particularly on Monday, as warmer air combines with the effects of the DANA.
However, the broader trend is expected to be one of unusually high temperatures for mid-June, especially across central and northern Spain.
For Malaga residents and tourists, the forecast currently points to sunshine, rising temperatures and the return of the notorious terral wind, rather than the storms expected elsewhere in the country.
