Andalucia is expected to create more summer jobs than anywhere else in Spain this year, with nearly 143,000 temporary contracts forecast during the 2026 holiday season.
According to new figures from HR company Randstad, the region is projected to generate 142,480 contracts this summer, representing a 13.2% increase compared to 2025.
The data underlines the huge importance of tourism to the southern region’s economy, with hospitality, restaurants and retail expected to drive the overwhelming majority of hiring.
Malaga will once again dominate out of the region’s eight provinces, as it expects to sign 36,695 contracts.
It is followed by Sevilla with 27,510 contracts and Cadiz with 23,390.
The remaining provinces are also forecast to record strong growth, including Granada (13,965 contracts), Almeria (13,060), Huelva (10,925), Cordoba (8,475) and Jaen (8,460).
Across the region, increases range from 15% in Almeria to 11.6% in Huelva.
Andalucia’s projected growth also exceeds the national average of 12.2%, reinforcing its role as one of Spain’s biggest engines of seasonal employment.
Nationwide, Spain is expected to generate more than 790,000 summer contracts this year.
Hospitality and restaurant businesses are forecast to account for almost half of all jobs created, with nearly 390,000 contracts expected nationally, up 24% compared to last year.
Retail will also see major hiring growth, while entertainment and leisure businesses are expected to record the sharpest increase thanks to concerts, festivals and summer events.
Employers are particularly searching for waiters, chefs, shop assistants, warehouse workers, delivery drivers and hotel receptionists.
Entertainment staff, event workers and animators are also expected to be in high demand.
Randstad said companies are increasingly prioritising candidates who can start immediately, adapt quickly and already possess previous experience.
