British expats on the Costa del Sol have been warned after thieves allegedly broke into a home in Mijas while the family was still inside the property.
The incident, shared in an online expat forum, is said to have happened on Saturday night in the Mijas area.
According to the post, intruders entered the property while the occupants were inside and made off with several valuables, including a distinctive watch, a wedding ring, cash, house keys and the family’s car – described as a white Audi A3 Sportback.
The victim appealed to the local community for help tracking down the stolen items and vehicle.
‘Last night our home in the local area was broken into while we were inside the property,’ the resident wrote.
‘Several items were stolen, including a distinctive watch, a wedding ring, cash, keys, and our car.’
The expat asked residents to keep an eye on second-hand websites, markets and social media platforms in case the jewellery appears for sale.

‘Please also keep an eye out for the vehicle or anything suspicious in the area,’ the post added.
The resident urged people not to confront anyone directly, instead asking for private messages with any information that could assist.
The incident has sparked concern among foreign residents on the Costa del Sol, particularly given the burglars allegedly entered while the homeowners were still inside.
Anyone with information regarding the stolen items or the white Audi A3 Sportback is being urged to contact local police.
