A budget supermarket founded and based in Andalucia is expected to break the €1billion revenue mark next year.
El Jamon looks set to reach the goal three years ahead of schedule after reporting a 40% surge in sales so far in 2026, reports El Conciso.
If achieved, it would mark a major milestone and place the Huelva-based retailer among the region’s biggest companies.
It would also make it only the second firm headquartered in the province to do so, alongside Atlantic Copper.
The company closed 2024 with €529 million in revenue, climbed to €600 million in 2025, and is now expecting to exceed €850 million by the end of 2026 following this year’s strong performance.
‘It gives us confidence, but also reinforces our ambition,’ said managing director Mabel Diaz.
‘We have a clear plan, and we’re executing it with focus – but we’re realistic about the factors we can’t control.’

That plan rests on three key pillars. First, organic growth: improving store performance through better shopping experiences, stronger fresh food sections, expanded product ranges, and tighter operational efficiency.
Second, geographic expansion, with the chain continuing to strengthen its footprint across Andalucia.
The third pillar is acquisitions. A recent example is the integration of Grupo Piedra, which has boosted El Jamon’s presence in Cordoba and opened the door to Jaen.
The company now operates 375 stores across the region, and in every province except Almeria.
Rather than chasing rapid expansion for its own sake, Diaz says the focus is on building a solid foundation.
Further expansion is already on the radar. The company is exploring opportunities in untapped provinces such as Almeria, as well as nearby regions like Extremadura, while prioritising consolidation in newly entered markets.
Growth is also feeding directly into job creation. El Jamon currently employs around 5,400 people, with numbers rising during peak seasons, particularly along the coast.
While the company avoids setting specific hiring targets, it links every new store, acquisition, and operational upgrade to increased staffing needs.
