A man wanted for a violent machete attack on his ex-partner’s parents in Malaga has been arrested following a police manhunt that ended in Alicante.
The suspect, who had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest, was detained by officers from the Policia Nacional after attempting to evade capture for days.
The incident took place on April 4 in the Las Castañetas area of Malaga city.
According to investigators, the man had previously threatened to kill his 20-year-old ex-partner over the phone before going to her parents’ home in search of her.
Wearing a mask to conceal his identity, he allegedly kicked down the front door and launched a frenzied machete attack on the woman’s parents.
The mother suffered a serious arm injury, while the father sustained multiple wounds as he tried to protect his daughter.
During the struggle, both victims were able to identify the attacker before he fled the scene in a vehicle.

‘Extreme risk’ suspect
Police described the suspect as posing an ‘extreme risk’, particularly given his history of breaching restraining orders linked to gender violence cases.
He was subject to as many as six active warrants, including one ordering his immediate imprisonment for a previous assault.
Officers maintained a police presence outside the victim’s home in Malaga while investigators tracked his movements.
Arrest in Alicante
Authorities eventually traced the suspect to Alicante, where he had been hiding in the El Cementerio neighbourhood.
A discreet surveillance operation was launched, involving specialist units including the UPR and GOR.
The breakthrough came when an off-duty officer recognised the man on Los Cipreses road as he was about to enter a property. Backup was called and the suspect was arrested on the spot before he could escape.
He is now in custody and expected to be transferred to face justice over the attack.
