A 45-year-old ‘foreign’ woman has been found dead with a wound to her neck at a luxury urbanisation in Benahavis.

The victim was discovered on Tuesday morning after a neighbour who reportedly heard a loud scream called the 112 emergency number at around 9.50am.

The Spanish Eye can confirm that the woman was found in a ‘large pool of blood’ in a home in the Las Jacarandas urbanisation, near to the entrance of the sprawling and gated Los Arqueros neighbourhood.

Photos taken by this newspaper at the scene show multiple Guardia Civil cars stationed outside the home, while police tape remains attached to the entrance gate.

An officer on the scene told the Spanish Eye: ‘We cannot reveal any details about what happened as the investigation is ongoing.’

However, after being asked about the victim’s nationality, another officer said that she ‘is not English nor Spanish’, but declined to comment further.

According to respected local newspaper La Opinion de Malaga, the victim was from Hungary.

It has since emerged that she was registered on Spain’s domestic violence tracking system, called VioGen – but according to local reports, her case had not been ‘active’ at the time of her killing.

Paramedics, Guardia Civil officers and Local Police were immediately dispatched following the emergency phone call but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

An initial forensic examination found that she had suffered a cut to her neck.

The area was immediately sealed off as specialist forensic teams began examining the property.

A judge, court clerk and forensic doctor were also called to oversee the removal of the body, which will now undergo a full post-mortem examination at Malaga’s Institute of Legal Medicine.

Investigators have not yet released details about any suspects or the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death.

The Spanish Eye has contacted the Guardia Civil headquarters for comment.
