Adelante Andalucia has overtaken the PSOE to become the second party the region trusts most to solve its problems, according to a new poll.
The latest Andalucian Barometer, published by the Centra Foundation, found that 16.5% of respondents believe the regionalist party led by Jose Ignacio Garcia is best placed to tackle the issues affecting them.
Only the ruling Partido Popular (PP), led by Juanma Moreno, scored higher, with 26.7%.
The poll puts Adelante Andalucia comfortably ahead of Maria Jesus Montero’s PSOE, which scored 12.3%, while Vox received 9.4% and the left-wing coalition Por Andalucia, led by Antonio Maillo, polled 5%.
The result marks a dramatic rise for Adelante Andalucia.
Just four months ago, before the May 17 regional election, only 5.2% of respondents in the same survey considered the party the best option to solve Andalucia’s problems.
Since then, the party has increased its representation in the Andalucian Parliament from two seats to eight.
Where previously it was represented only in Cadiz and Sevilla, it now also holds seats in Huelva, Granada, Cordoba and Malaga, alongside two deputies each in Cadiz and Sevilla.
Reacting to the findings, Garcia urged caution.
‘Polls are always just one piece of information among many, and we are keeping our feet firmly on the ground,’ he said.
He added that the figures gave the party hope, saying: ‘Adelante Andalucia is now the second choice of Andalucians to solve their problems, and politics is ultimately about solving people’s problems.’
Despite the strong polling, Garcia insisted his party’s goal remains to remove the political right from power.
‘Our objective is to protect public healthcare, guarantee access to housing and defend the rights of working people,’ he said.
‘We still have a long way to go, but we have strength and enthusiasm.’
The Centra poll also found Adelante Andalucia has overtaken Vox when voters were asked which party they felt closest to politically, scoring 11.7% on that measure.
