A Marbella resident has avoided jail after police found an untraceable gun, silencer and bullets at his home back in 2020.
The unnamed man was this week sentenced to one year and one day in prison for possessing prohibited weapons.
However, the Provincial Court of Malaga suspended the sentence and placed the man on probation for the next three years.
He is also banned from owning or carrying weapons for five years, reports Spanish news agency EFE.
The court ordered the confiscation and destruction of both the seized weapon and the silencer and ammunition.
The Policia Naiconal found the pistol with the serial number removed, a silencer, and numerous unfired cartridges in perfect condition at his home back in June 2020.
During the trial, the accused admitted the facts and accepted the Malaga Prosecutor’s Office’s request, reaching a plea agreement that allowed a sentence to be handed down without the need for a lengthy trial.
