An 11-year-old girl died has died after falling from the terrace of her family home in the Juan XXIII neighbourhood of Sevilla.

The incident occurred at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, when the 112 emergency line received a call from a witness reporting that someone had fallen from a fourth or fifth-floor balcony on Avenida de la Monteria.

It was unclear at the time whether the fall was intentional or accidental.

Emergency services, including 061 health workers, firefighters, National Police and Local Police, were immediately dispatched.

But despite their efforts, paramedics could only confirm the child’s death at the scene.

The Policia Nacional has opened an investigation, though initial findings suggest the fall was accidental.
