The latest figures from Turespaña reveal Spain welcomed 63.7 million international air passengers in the first seven months of the year.

The figure is a 6 % increase compared with the same period in 2024. July alone saw 11.7 million arrivals, up 4.3 % year-on-year.

British tourists dominate

Europe continues to be the main source of inbound travelers to Spain, with 79.3 % of arrivals coming from the EU and the UK, rising 3.7 % overall.

The UK remains the top individual market, generating around 23 % of all arrivals in July, followed by Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands.

Rising markets such as China, South Korea, Turkey, and Colombia are also contributing to the diversity of tourists choosing Spain.

Barcelona fastest growing airport in Spain

July was a historic month at many of Spain’s airports, as Aena recorded an all-time high of 32.7 million passengers nationwide, up 2.7 % from July 2024, with 319,591 aircraft movements up 0.9 %.

Barcelona-El Prat broke its own single-month record with 5.54 million passengers, outpacing growth at Madrid-Barajas and signaling a need for expansion.

Other airports also saw milestone traffic: for instance, Palma de Mallorca handled 2.6 million international passengers (up 1.2 %) and saw strong low-cost inflows.
