Revealed: The Mercadona chocolate that is NOT fattening and is GOOD for you

Chocolate. It’s the delicious treat that probably coined the phrase: ‘A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips’ – but perhaps no longer.

According to nutritionists, a bar currently being sold in Spain’s Mercadona is packed full of healthy ingredients – and is NOT fattening.

That’s the verdict of nutritionist influencer Jesus Baraza, or @elnutricionisto on Instagram.

In a recent video, Jesus claims the best chocolate product available is the Spanish supermarket’s 85% cocoa dark chocolate bar.

He says the product skips the sugar rush and has no artificial sweeteners.

The expert pointed out how it contains just 1.4 grams of sugar per ounce, no weird additives, and a taste that doesn’t punch you in the mouth like some dark chocolates.

He branded it the ‘best value option’ in the supermarket.

Why is dark chocolate good for you?

This is the best chocolate product in Mercadona, a nutritionist has claimed

Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content is packed with antioxidants, which can fight oxidative stress, protect your cells, and even keep you looking young.

Cocoa is also known to give your heart, cholesterol levels, and mood a friendly little boost – however it is advisable to only eat a couple of squares at a time.

When purchasing dark chocolate, it is important to check the list of ingredients, with some brands adding sweeteners and sugars that can cause weight gain and blood sugar spikes.

Mercadona’s 85% bar keeps it clean with just five ingredients, consisting of cocoa paste, cocoa butter, defatted cocoa powder, soy lecithin, and a touch of flavouring – and it’s only €1.85 for a 100g bar.
