This is the heart-stopping moment a bull escaped through a fence during a traditional ‘running’ event in Andalucia over Easter weekend.
Several people were left injured after the animal charged through a gap in the red barriers.
The events unfolded during a ‘running of the bulls’ festival in Arcos de la Frontera, Cadiz.
Spectators behind the fence included women, children and elderly people.
The bull, named Vaporoso, weighed 570kg and belonged to the Juan Pedro Domecq ranch.
The footage was shared by animal activist group PACMA, which calls for a total ban on the bloodsport.
It blasted the local town hall for continuing with three more bullfighting events after the incident.
No one was reported to have been injured seriously, although one woman had a ‘significant’ injury to her leg, according to local reports, but she is now ‘out of danger’.
The Running of the Bulls in Arcos de la Frontera is known locally as Toro del Aleluya.
It takes place on Easter Sunday as part of the town’s Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations and is one of the most famous bull runs in Andalucia.
The bull run happens through the narrow, winding streets of Arcos’ historic old town, which sits on a dramatic cliffside. Barriers are set up along the route to protect spectators.
A small number of bulls (often two to three at a time) are released to charge through the streets.
Locals (mostly young men, but some daredevil tourists too) run ahead of the bulls, trying not to get caught.
Traditionally, after the run, the bulls are returned to their ranches or are sometimes used in later bullfights, depending on the arrangement with the ranchers.
In recent years, due to growing concern about animal welfare and pressure from advocacy groups, organisers often avoid killing the bulls publicly or at all.
