THE Policia Nacional have released a video warning drivers of an ‘old school’ scam that is enjoying a comeback in many cities around the country.
The scam is simple and involves criminals placing a €50 note on a driver’s windshield.
Their aim is to make the driver stop, get out and remove the counterfeit note from the windscreen wipers.
When the car is unlocked they will immediately attempt to open doors and grab anything inside.
And if the car is running as the driver gets out they are also known to have stolen the vehicle itself.
It’s a classic ‘distraction’ technique that is still effective on the unknowing victim.
