Two teenagers have been arrested in Marbella for their alleged role in an armed drug-trafficking ring.
A total of three people were detained after police seized five semi-automatic pistols, machetes and disturbing silicone masks resembling human faces.
The Policia Nacional operation also uncovered significant quantities of ketamine, MDMA, ecstasy pills and 2C-B, as well as more than €21,000 in cash.
The investigation began in July after officers discovered a suspicious vehicle in Marbella which had recently been stolen in Portugal.
The car was displaying cloned Swedish registration plates, but what officers discovered inside prompted a much wider investigation.
Police found several weapons, including large machetes, along with clown masks and silicone masks designed to resemble human faces.
Investigators established that the stolen vehicle was being used as a caleta – a hiding place or stash used to conceal illicit items.
Police then identified the suspected users of the vehicle and carried out two searches of properties linked to the investigation.
Three people were arrested, two of whom are minors.
Across the investigation, officers seized a total of five semi-automatic pistols as well as other weapons.
Police also recovered 827g of ketamine, 670g of 2C-B, 52g of MDMA and 425 ecstasy tablets.
Adult suspect remanded in custody
Following their appearance before the relevant judicial authorities, the adult suspect was remanded in custody.
The two minors were ordered to be held in a juvenile detention centre.
