A mother is fighting for her life after her husband tried to kill her in front of their young daughter.
The 35-year-old woman has become the latest victim of gender-based violence in Malaga following the brutal attack at her home on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Calle Leoni Benabu, in an upmarket urbanisation east of the city centre.
The couple’s young daughter is understood to have witnessed the attack and called the police herself at around 6pm.
When officers arrived, they discovered the woman in cardiorespiratory arrest.
They began performing CPR before transferring here to hospital. Her current condition is unknown.
The husband, 39, was found dead at the property after taking his own life.
Police are treating the incident as a case of gender-based violence.
Police said neither the man nor the woman had been registered in the VioGen domestic violence system.
The investigation continues.
