Three puppies have been rescued after being abandoned by a river in Manilva.

The Town Hall’s Environment Department revealed the discovery on Saturday and blasted the ‘act of animal cruelty and serious irresponsibility’.

Fortunately, two have already found families willing to adopt them and provide the care they need.

However, the third puppy remains without a home, prompting the council to issue a public appeal for someone to come forward and adopt it.

How to adopt the remaining puppy

Anyone interested in giving the puppy a permanent home can contact Manilva Local Police on 637 021 997.

Potential adopters can also contact the council’s Environment Department directly on 619 721 230.

The latter is the contact number the town hall uses for information relating to its temporary animal shelter and abandoned animals.

Manilva operates a municipal service throughout the year for the collection and care of lost and abandoned animals while attempts are made to reunite them with their owners or find them new homes.

Under Andalucian procedures, suspected cases of deliberate abandonment can be reported to the authorities and, where abandonment is established, sanctioning proceedings can be launched against the owner.
