Outrage has erupted in Sevilla after poisoned food and sausages stuffed with sharp objects were discovered in a dog park, amid a string of similar incidents across the city.

Disturbing photographs shared online show pieces of sausage apparently packed with screws or nails, alongside other pieces of food believed to have been deliberately left for animals.

The latest warning was raised by Sevilla councillor Susana Hornillo, who said the dangerous food continues to appear at a dog park in Sevilla Este.

‘Poisoned food and food with nails keep appearing in the Sevilla Este dog park,’ she said.

‘If it weren’t for the neighbours organising themselves, all this could end up harming pets and children.

‘We demand safe parks. This has to stop now.’

The alarming discovery comes after the same dog and children’s park, located between Calle Manuel Olivencia and Calle Faustino Gutierrez, was closed earlier this month when potentially dangerous food was found.

Authorities are investigating who is responsible.

Dogs already injured in similar incidents

The same Sevilla Este park was previously closed on July 8 after poison was detected, while another dog park at La Rosaleda was shut on July 26 after sausages containing needles were discovered.

At least two dogs were affected after eating the deliberately tampered-with food in the latter incident, according to municipal sources.

Authorities have warned that the apparent traps could also pose a danger to children and other park users, particularly because some of the affected spaces combine children’s play areas with facilities for dogs.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and prevent their pets from eating food found on the ground while investigations continue.
