A man has been arrested after a human torso was found dumped beside a road in Alhaurin de la Torre, the Guardia Civil has confirmed.

The grim discovery was made on Tuesday morning on the access road to the town’s quarry area, near Pinos de Alhaurin.

According to local newspaper Malaga Hoy, the remains consist of a human torso rather than a complete body, which is expected to make the identification process more difficult.

The Guardia Civil said an investigation is underway but has released no further details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the case.

Following the discovery, a judicial commission attended the scene to oversee the recovery of the remains before they were transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Malaga for forensic examination.

Specialists will now work to identify the victim and establish both the cause and circumstances of death.

The discovery comes just months after the Guardia Civil identified a human skull found in Alhaurin de la Torre in June 2025.

In that case, the remains belonged to a man from Coin who had been missing since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The skull was discovered by council workers inside a deteriorated plastic bag in a utility chamber on municipal land.
