A man has been shot in broad daylight in Estepona in the latest gun attack to hit the Costa del Sol.
The shooting took place at around 5.30pm on Tuesday in the car park of the Sonora chiringuito.
Emergency services received multiple calls reporting that a man had collapsed and was bleeding heavily, with witnesses describing scenes of ‘panic’.
According to sources cited by respected Spanish newspaper El Español, the victim took bullets to the leg and stomach.
The car park sits behind the exclusive Los Granados Playa urbanisation, a beachfront complex popular with wealthy expats and where homes sell for millions of euros.
The nationality of the victim has not yet been revealed.
The 112 Andalucia emergency service dispatched the Policia Nacional, Local Police and paramedics to the scene.
Police confirmed the victim suffered gunshot wounds but the severity of his condition has not been disclosed.
Early investigations suggest the gunman, or gunmen, fled the scene in a ‘dark’ vehicle that is believed to have been stolen.
The Policia Nacional has taken charge of the investigation.
The shooting is the second firearm incident in Malaga province in just three days.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, four men were injured, including at least one by gunfire, after a violent clash between two rival families in the Los Asperones neighbourhood of Malaga city.
Two people were arrested following that incident.
