This is the moment motorists were left stunned after a woman was filmed walking in the middle of the A-7 near Puerto Banus late on Friday night.
It came barely two weeks after Norwegian teenager Nikoline Hoie was killed on the same motorway.
The shocking images, shared on social media by the Marbella Se Queja account, show the woman strolling along the painted chevron markings between lanes as traffic passes on either side of her.
It is unclear why the woman was on the carriageway or how long she remained there, but the incident sparked alarm among drivers, with many warning that it could easily have ended in tragedy.
The footage comes after the death of 17-year-old Nikoline Hoie, who was struck and killed on the A-7 in Mijas after leaving a nightclub in Puerto Banus during celebrations following Norway’s World Cup victory.
Her death prompted a major Guardia Civil investigation after the driver responsible fled the scene.
The case took a dramatic turn this week when the main suspect was released without charge after CCTV footage reportedly showed he had never left his home on the night of the fatal collision.
Nikoline’s death has also raised wider questions about pedestrian safety along stretches of the Costa del Sol’s busiest motorway, particularly around Puerto Banus and nearby nightlife hotspots where people have previously been seen attempting to walk along or cross the A-7 despite the obvious dangers.
Police repeatedly warn that pedestrians should never enter motorways except in genuine emergencies, as vehicles are travelling at high speed and drivers have little time to react.
