Two elderly beachgoers have been found dead on a Costa del Sol beach in what is believed to be a double drowning tragedy.
The bodies of an 80-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman were discovered on Playa de Las Lindes in Torrox on Friday evening.
Emergency services received an alert at around 7.30pm reporting that two swimmers had died in the water.
Medical teams, Guardia Civil officers and Local Police rushed to the scene, but could only confirm that both individuals had already passed away.
According to Malaga Hoy, the victims had not been formally identified, although early indications suggest they may be a German couple.
Authorities believe the pair were in a relationship, but official confirmation is still pending.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.

While the exact cause will be determined by autopsies, investigators are working on the theory that one of the swimmers may have entered the water to help the other before both got into difficulty.
The tragedy unfolded on a day marked by strong winds and rough sea conditions, which may have played a role in the incident.
The beach was reportedly busy with bathers when the bodies were discovered.
The victims remained on the sand while officials awaited the arrival of the judicial commission, including a forensic pathologist, duty judge and court officials, before the bodies could be formally removed.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation into the deaths.
Both bodies will be transferred to Malaga’s Institute of Legal Medicine, where forensic examinations will be carried out.
Authorities are once again urging beachgoers to exercise caution when entering the water, particularly during periods of strong winds and rough seas.
