Firefighters in Estepona carried out a delicate rescue operation on Thursday after a cat became trapped head-first in a narrow opening in a home’s wall.
The unfortunate feline had managed to squeeze part of its body into a small gap in the lattice structure but became firmly stuck, leaving its head protruding from the wall and unable to free itself.
Images from the scene show the cat wedged in an awkward position as firefighters carefully worked to release it without causing injury.
The rescue took place on Calle Huerta Nueva, where a crew from the Provincial Fire Consortium’s Estepona station was called out shortly before 9.40am.
With the cat meowing throughout the operation, firefighters used a hammer and chisel to gradually create more space around the opening.
Particular care was taken to protect the animal’s head while the structure was being broken away.
The tense rescue lasted just over 30 minutes before firefighters finally managed to free the trapped cat.
‘It’s out,’ one firefighter can be heard saying in footage of the moment the relieved animal was released.
Fortunately, the cat appeared unharmed despite its ordeal and was able to walk away after being rescued.
The operation ended successfully, with both the firefighters and the feline escaping the incident without injury.
