A woman has been found dead on a beach in Almeria.

The grisly discovery was made on Tuesday in Roquetas de Mar, an area popular with British tourists and expats.

The body was found on La Bajadilla beach during the morning, according to officials from the Guardia Civil command in Almeria.

Initial examinations carried out at the scene found no signs of violence on the body, leading authorities to rule out a violent death at this stage.

Despite the preliminary findings, officers have opened an investigation to establish the exact cause of death.

No further details about the woman’s identity have yet been released.
