Spanish police have seized two firearms, large quantities of ammunition and drugs in a pair of anti-narcotics operations in Malaga city, resulting in three arrests.
The Policia Nacional carried out raids in the neighbourhoods of Las Flores and Los Asperones, where they uncovered weapons believed to be linked to local drug trafficking activity.
Police recovered two loaded handguns, one of which had its serial number removed. They also seized four magazines and more than 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Investigators believe the weapons were intended for self-defence in the event of so-called ‘vuelcos’ – robberies carried out by rival gangs targeting drugs or cash.
In one of the searches, officers found around 800 grams of cocaine, along with weighing scales and equipment used to prepare and distribute drugs. More than €8,000 in cash was also seized.
A semi-automatic pistol ready to fire was discovered hidden alongside 37 bullets concealed inside a knotted sock.

Suspects linked to drug dealing
Among those arrested is a couple living in Los Asperones, who are suspected of being involved in small-scale drug dealing. Another man, detained in Las Flores, is believed to have been operating at a slightly larger scale.
All three have been charged with illegal possession of weapons. One of the suspects has been remanded in custody following a court order.
Police say the investigation forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crime in the city.
