Juanma Moreno has revealed that he is the lead voice behind ‘Kilometro Sur’ – the pop anthem that has soundtracked the Partido Popular’s Andalucian election campaign.
The conservative president confirmed the revelation in a message accompanying the song’s newly released video clip, describing the track as a tribute to the region and ‘a reflection of the pride of being Andalucian’.
The song first appeared publicly during Moreno’s campaign launch rally as he seeks re-election as president of the Junta de Andalucia this Sunday (May 17).
Attendees initially heard what appeared to be a previously unknown pop track with a distinctly nostalgic 1990s sound after the usual campaign music – including songs by Spanish artists and tracks from Camilo – suddenly stopped.
The mystery quickly sparked speculation among journalists and political observers, many of whom immediately questioned whether the voice on the song actually belonged to Moreno himself.
At the time, campaign officials insisted the track was performed by a Sevilla group called Kilometro Sur, while avoiding direct answers about the identity of the singer.
Moreno later fuelled the rumours during a campaign stop in Cordoba when asked directly about the song.
Rather than confirming his involvement, he simply joked that the voice sounded ‘quite similar’ to his own.
Over the following days, ‘Kilometro Sur’ became the unofficial anthem of the PP’s Andalucian campaign, playing before virtually every appearance by Moreno and at rallies across the region.
The lyrics celebrate Andalucia and portray being Andalusian as a source of deep pride.
