Drivers using the AP-7 near Marbella are being warned to expect disruption and lane restrictions for more than six weeks as major anti-noise works get underway on the Costa del Sol motorway.
According to Spain’s Transport Ministry, traffic will be affected from May 12 until June 26 on the Marbella bypass section of the A-7/AP-7 heading towards Málaga.
The works will impact the stretch between kilometre points 1044.7 and 1042.7, where lanes will be narrowed while crews carry out measures aimed at reducing traffic noise.
Authorities say the restrictions will be clearly signposted, but motorists are being urged to take extra care when driving through the area.
The disruption will not only affect the main carriageway.
Slip roads and junctions around exits 1044 and 1043 will also face restrictions, including connections towards Marbella, Avenida del Trapiche, the A-355, Ojen and nearby commercial parks.
The bifurcation point between the AP-7 and A-7 heading towards Fuengirola and Malaga will also be impacted during the works.

In addition, some lanes may be closed entirely overnight between 10pm and 6am throughout the project.
The works form part of Spain’s national anti-noise action plan and carry a budget of €13.1 million.
They are being funded through European Union recovery funds under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
