An alleged ketamine kingpin has been found hiding among the expat community on the Costa Blanca.
The 32-year-old man was wanted by UK authorities after fleeing the country to avoid prosecution over serious drug offences.
The suspect was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant and is accused of playing a key role in a major drugs and money laundering operation in Blackburn between 2022 and 2024.
According to police, he was involved in the distribution of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis, as well as handling the laundering of profits through bank accounts linked to the network.
Investigators believe he fled the UK after one of his associates was arrested, fearing he was next in line to be detained as a central figure in the operation.
Spanish National Police tracked him down on the Costa Blanca after receiving intelligence that he could be hiding in Benidorm.
He was located in the party resort and arrested without incident.
The man is now facing extradition to the UK, where he could receive a life sentence if convicted.
Following his arrest, he was brought before Spain’s National Court in Madrid, which will handle the extradition process.
