Marbella has approved renovation licences for two major hotels in projects worth almost €18million.
The green light was given on Tuesday by the local government, with works now cleared to go ahead at the Senator Marbella Hotel and the Hotel Guadalmina.
According to council spokesman Felix Romero, the larger of the two projects is the full refurbishment of the Senator Marbella Hotel, with an execution budget of just under €13million.
Meanwhile, permission has also been granted for a revised reform and expansion project at Hotel Guadalmina, where investment is expected to come in at close to €5million.
Romero said projects of this scale reflect ‘Marbella’s standing within established tourism circuits, with operators making long-term decisions based on market analysis and expectations for the destination’.
The council says the investment will also have a knock-on effect across the local economy, particularly in construction, supply chains and support services linked to the works.
In the same meeting, Marbella also agreed to join the Andalucian Network of Public Theatres for 2026, opening the door to more theatre, music, dance and circus performances in municipal venues such as CAE La Alcoholera.
The council also confirmed budget modifications worth around €1.2million, which will now go to the next full council meeting for approval.

That money will help fund a new multi-use centre near Calvario park, a plant-covered mural at the entrance to Puerto Banus, ornamental features along the coastal path, and new video surveillance and traffic control systems in the La Ermita industrial estate.
Extra funding is also being set aside for municipal sports infrastructure and related technical works.
