A victim of the Adamuz rail disaster in Cordoba has died in hospital, bringing the death toll to 46.

The woman, who was being treated at the Reina Sofia Hospital in Cordoba, is said to have had severely damaged lungs as a result of the deadly crash.

Health authorities have confirmed that 16 people remain hospitalised across Andalucia. Of those still receiving treatment, three remain in intensive care units.

According to the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS), one further patient has been discharged from hospital, while another has been moved out of intensive care.

Two patients remain in intensive care at Hospital Reina Sofia, while a third is being treated in the ICU at Hospital San Juan de Dios, also in the provincial capital.

The remaining patients are being treated on standard wards, with seven admitted to Hospital Reina Sofia, including one minor, two at Hospital Juan Ramon Jimenez, three at Hospital Infanta Elena, one at Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Sevilla and one at Vithas Malaga.

On Thursday, a funeral was held at the Palacio de los Deportes in Huelva to honour the 45 victims confirmed at that time.

The ceremony was attended by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, alongside representatives of the Junta de Andalucia, including regional president Juanma Moreno, and members of the central government, represented by Maria Jesus Montero.

Investigations into the cause of the accident remain ongoing, as health services continue to monitor the condition of those still receiving treatment in hospitals across the region.
