A body was dumped on a road in Ronda just hours before a second corpse was chucked off a boat in Marbella, it has emerged.
It means the Guardia Civil is now investigating the discovery of two dead bodies in less than 24 hours.
Both corpses showed signs of violence, with investigators not ruling anything out, including a settling of scores between rival drug gangs.
The body in Ronda was found on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services were notified of the presence of a deceased person on a road in the inland Malaga region.
According to sources close to the investigation, the body showed clear signs of violence and multiple injuries.
The corpse of the victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine.
The initial results of the forensic examination have confirmed that the death was violent, although the circumstances surrounding it are still unknown.
Less than 24 hours later, a semi-rigid vessel known as a ‘narcolancha’ approached the fueling dock in Puerto Banus.
A gang of masked men are reported to have thrown a man into the water and fled the scene.
It is now not clear whether the victim was still alive when he was thrown overboard, which will be cleared up by the autopsy. He was dead by the time paramedics arrived.
Sources close to the investigation insist all lines of inquiry are open, with rivalries between tobacco smugglers and even illegal fishing being probed.
