Spain’s traffic authority (DGT) has slammed a driver for travelling over 200km/hr on a highway in Malaga.

The force shared footage on X taken by a radar-equipped helicopter that forms part of its Air Support Unit.

In the clip, a white car can be seen weaving through traffic and overtaking other cars and a lorry from both the left and right lanes.

The DGT has not disclosed the exact location of the incident but condemned the driver’s behaviour, saying it posed a serious risk to their own safety and to other road users.

‘At that speed, even a minor incident can turn into a tragedy,’ the agency warned.

However, many locals commented beneath the tweet, saying that the speed limit of 120km/hr needs to be revised – and some even complimented the driving in the video.

One wrote: ‘Raise the speed limit to 150km/h on highways and motorways once and for all and stop messing around.’

‘It baffles me that there’s money for helicopters and state-of-the-art radars, but not for repairing the roads,’ another said.

‘It strikes me as odd that a car from 2000 in perfect condition can’t enter the city center, yet the helicopter is out there issuing fines.’

One added: ‘He keeps the car stable, maintains a safe distance from other vehicles, moves to the left to overtake, and then returns to the right lane. Zero risks.

‘I wish everyone drove like that, even if it was at 250km/h.’

The speed limit should be reduced to 110. The fuel savings and pollution reduction would be enormous! The moronic comments are typical of a few Spanish morons and their disrespect for the environment. I live in Cadiz province and the old polluting cars, rubbish thrown from car windows and fly tipping are a major problems. I have an electric car powered from my solar panels.
