A series of alerts for heavy rain have been issued for parts of Andalucia this week.
State weather agency Aemet is warning of intense downpours in the eastern half of the region from Thursday.
On this day, the majority of Almeria province will be under a yellow advisory between 6pm and 11.59pm.
Meteorologists believe up to 15mm of rainfall could fall within an hour, accompanied by thunderstorms.
Parts of Granada will also be on a yellow alert for the same conditions, except from 11am and until 9pm.
The affected areas in Granada are Guadix and Baza, and the Sierra Nevada and Alpujarras.
Mediterranean storm system building
Aemet warns that between Wednesday and Sunday, the Mediterranean coast could see a significant storm episode, with persistent, heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.
That said, some of that instability may push inland, bringing sporadic showers to other parts of the peninsula.
As things stand, Friday looks like the wettest day of the week for Sevilla and Malaga.

After that, rain chances taper off into the weekend, dropping to around 15% to 20% in some areas. But given how quickly forecasts can change, it’s worth keeping an eye on weather updates.
Aemet suggests that this unstable pattern along the Mediterranean could linger through Sunday, October 12. So, while things may dry up temporarily, more rain can’t be ruled out just yet.
