A man has been arrested in Tarragona after police discovered the corpse of a woman in the boot of his car.

The Mossos d’Esquadra cuffed the 43-year-old on the AP-7 motorway on Friday after he calmly confessed to having the woman’s body in the trunk.

The suspect pulled up next to a police car at around 6.12pm in Constanti, where it was responding to a traffic accident.

According to Diario de Tarragona, the patrol car notified headquarters, who sent reinforcements to the scene.

Specialised officers inspected the boot of the car and found the body of the woman, which showed ‘clear signs of violence.’

The driver was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to the Campclar police station.

According to local reports, the victim has yet to be officially identified but the authorities believe it may be the driver’s partner.

The car he was travelling in had come from the Valencian province of Castellon.

The investigation continues.
