A 69-year-old man has been gored to death by a bull in Valencia.

The pensioner suffered serious wounds to the chest, thigh and head on Friday morning.

The bull attacked the man during a bullfighting event in the town of Dos Aguas at around 8.30am.

He was airlifted to the La Fe Hospital in Valencia via helicopter, where he slipped into a coma and ultimately died.

The Dos Aguas town hall said it had suspended all events planned for this Holy Week ‘as a sign of respect and mourning.’

It wrote: ‘We regret to inform you that, due to the recent incident in our municipality, and as a sign of respect and mourning, all events scheduled for this Easter holiday are suspended.

‘We appreciate the understanding of all our residents during this difficult time.’
