A baby boy has died following a brutal home circumcision in Spain.

The 40-day old baby’s parents and the man who performed the illegal procedure have been arrested.

The horror unfolded in Roquetas de Mar in Almeria on Sunday evening, reports Europa Press.

According to local newspaper Diario de Almeria, the parents asked a man to perform the procedure at the family home.

However, it went horribly wrong and the boy began to bleed severely.

His parents rushed him to the nearest medical centre where staff were unable to revive the boy.

Healthcare workers immediately alerted police and an investigation was launched by the authorities.

The horror unfolded in Roquetas de Mar in Almeria on Sunday evening, reports Europa Press

The Guardia Civil arrested the boy’s parents and the man who performed the botched procedure.

Details remain scant on the identities of the family, although Guardia Civil sources said the third man was a citizen of Mali, in Africa.

The trio will be dragged in front of a court once the investigation is completed.

An autopsy is to be carried out on the child to determine his exact cause of death.
