EASYJET has announced two new services between the UK and Malaga as part of its expansion plan in southern Spain.

The budget airline is now operating flights to the Costa del Sol capital from both Leeds Bradford and Newcastle.

Other new Malaga services include Marrakech and Rabat (Morocco) and Zurich in Switzerland.

Some of these routes have already seen their first flight take off, while the rest will do so in the coming days.

Easyjet plans to sell more than 2.1 million seats at Malaga airport this summer, representing an 11% increase on last year.

The airline said in a statement: ‘Malaga has always been a great investment for easyJet in Spain, and we are very proud to start our fifth year as a base of operations with five new routes and an 11% increase in capacity.’

The reopening of easyJet’s Malaga base adds to the bases in Palma de Mallorca and Alicante.

The Malaga-Rabat route began operating on March 30, with two weekly routes; the Zurich route began operating three times a week on March 31st,

The Newcastle route began operating twice a week on March 31, while the Leeds-Bradford route is once a week and begins on April 2.
