This is the moment a police sniffer dog named Xana rumbled a suspected drug trafficker in Spain.
The trained pooch, who works for the Guardia Civil, uncovered almost a kilo of hashish hidden inside the vehicle as it made its way through central Spain.
The five slabs of drugs were concealed behind the vehicle’s interior lining when Guardia Civil officers stopped its driver on the A-43 motorway in Villarrobledo, Albacete.
The Guardia Civil arrested the vehicle’s sole occupant, a 48-year-old man, on suspicion of committing a public health offence.
The intervention formed part of a preventive operation carried out by the Albacete command’s Citizen Security Unit, known as USECIC.
Police said the driver’s behaviour raised the suspicions of officers, who ordered him to pull over before identifying him and inspecting the vehicle.
Xana, a Belgian Malinois trained to detect illegal drugs, indicated that something was concealed around the boot.
A closer examination uncovered five slabs of hashish hidden behind the vehicle’s interior lining.
The drugs weighed a total of 943 grams.
