This is the moment an alleged human trafficker’s car was searched by police after being found attempting to ferry a migrant from Ceuta to Andalucia.
The Moroccan owner of the vehicle was arrested after officers discovered a specially adapted compartment.
A migrant had been concealed beneath the rear seats of the car, which attempted to board a ferry from Ceuta to Algeciras.
Policia Nacional officers found the man during checks on vehicles entering the ship on Saturday.
The force said the rear of the vehicle had been adapted to create a hidden compartment capable of transporting a person without being seen during routine inspections.
Officers provided the migrant with assistance after removing him from the compartment.
Administrative proceedings were later opened because of his irregular immigration status.
The Moroccan driver, who was also the registered owner of the vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration.
He is being investigated for an alleged offence against the rights of foreign citizens.
Police have not released further details about either man or said whether money was exchanged for the journey.
The discovery was made as part of an enhanced security operation at the port following the mass arrival of migrants in Ceuta on July 30 and 31.
Additional officers have been deployed to prevent people without the necessary documentation from travelling onwards to mainland Spain.
