This is the hair-raising moment a young man jumped onto a mattress from a third-floor flat fire in Sevilla.
Dramatic footage shared online shows the resident dangling from the window as up to a dozen neighbours encourage him to let go.
The group can be seen holding the mattress between them, attempting to make sure he lands in the right spot.
Eventually, the man lets go and he plummets rapidly onto the mattress, which was able to cushion his fall.
The scenes unfolded in the Los Pajaritos neighbourhood in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Two people were injured in the blaze and later taken to the Virgen del Rocio Hospital.
The first of several emergency calls was received by the 112 Andalucia service at around 1.40am.
Callers reported that a flat on the third floor of a building on Calle Mirlo was on fire and that people were trapped inside.
They also said that at least one man had jumped from a window and landed on the blankets and mattress positioned by residents below.
Paramedics treated two injured people before transferring them to the hospital’s trauma unit.
No information has yet been released about their identities or the severity of their injuries.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown.
