A series of weather warnings have been issued for the Costa del Sol and inland Malaga for heavy rain and thunderstorms on Monday.
State weather agency Aemet has placed the Sol and Guadalhorce and the Antequera regions under a yellow alert from 7am until 2.59pm.
Forecasters expect up to 15mm of rainfall to accumulate within a single hour.
The downpours may also be accompanied by occasional thunderstorms.
The Sol and Guadalhorce area includes Malaga city and much of the western Costa del Sol, including Marbella, Mijas, Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinos.
It also covers inland municipalities throughout the Guadalhorce Valley.
A separate but identical yellow warning is in place across the Antequera region during the same eight-hour period.
A yellow alert represents a low-level danger warning, although Aemet cautions that potentially disruptive weather can still affect outdoor activities, roads and low-lying areas.
Drivers should be prepared for reduced visibility, standing water and difficult conditions during heavier bursts of rain.
The warnings follow an exceptionally hot end to September, with temperatures reaching 36C in Antequera on Friday.
The forecast comes as 140 forest firefighters continue battling a wildfire near Igualeja, where residents were ordered to remain indoors on Sunday morning.
