This is the moment pickpockets were pictured stealing from an unsuspecting victim on the Costa del Sol this week.
Images shared by community Instagram page Fuengirolasequeja show the men reaching into a woman’s bag in Fuengirola.
In two photos, the two men can be seen walking closely behind a woman carrying a large open bag over her shoulder.
One of the men appears to stretch a jumper or similar item in front of him, potentially obscuring what his hands are doing, while his companion walks immediately behind him.
The account warned: ‘Suspected pickpockets have been caught in the act in broad daylight in Fuengirola.
‘Take great care with bags, mobile phones and personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.’
The images attracted more than 1,300 likes and prompted concern among local residents.
It is not known if the pickpockets were confronted or arrested.
The Spanish Eye has contacted Fuengirola town hall for comment.
Pickpockets frequently target crowded shopping streets, public transport, markets, tourist attractions and outdoor terraces, where people may be distracted.
Police generally advise carrying bags closed and positioned in front of the body rather than behind it.
Mobile phones and wallets should not be left in rear trouser pockets or placed on restaurant tables, while handbags should never be hung loosely over the back of a chair.
